{"id":29178,"date":"2021-02-10T13:47:42","date_gmt":"2021-02-10T03:17:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peer.com.au\/?p=29178"},"modified":"2021-03-31T14:00:33","modified_gmt":"2021-03-31T03:30:33","slug":"new-chair-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peer.com.au\/new-chair-board\/","title":{"rendered":"PEER Appoints New Chair of the Board"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>PEER has welcomed new Chairperson Paul Caica to the organisation who brings fresh insight and expertise to the group.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Long-serving State MP Paul Caica has been appointed Chair of the Board at PEER, South Australia\u2019s leading training and assessment organisation for trades.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Caica retired from parliament in 2018 after a 16-year career in which he held several high-profile ministerial portfolios including that of Employment, Training and Further Education.<\/p>\n<p>He says he was attracted to the PEER role because of the non-profit organisation\u2019s strong industry reputation, skilled staff and potential for growth.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-29179 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/peer.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Paul-Caica-237x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"237\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing a former Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education, I knew of PEER and my son actually did an apprenticeship with them in plumbing,\u201d Mr Caica says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPEER has excellent credentials- we have been recognised with many awards and were a national finalist in the 2020 Australian Training Awards for Small Training Provider of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m impressed not only with PEER\u2019S board and executive, but by all of the staff- they are highly professional.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo me, PEER is synonymous with innovation- for example it uses tailored teaching techniques to suit individual students\u2019 learning styles so that everyone can experience success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Caica believes PEER has the potential to expand interstate and is keen assist the board in achieving its vision to be Australia\u2019s leading learning organisation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are well known in South Australia, but I would like to see us continue to innovate and extend our reach beyond our borders- our objective should be to become significant in Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Caica sees vocational training as an economic imperative for the state which also directly impacts people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re training people for life-long careers in vocations that they choose, giving them careers for life \u2013 it\u2019s critical,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>PEER CEO Peter Nolan says Mr Caica\u2019s appointment is a significant gain for PEER.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the former Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education, Paul brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the PEER board, as we expand into mining and defence.\u201d Mr Nolan says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis vast contacts, insights and big picture thinking will help drive our growth strategy, adding further breadth and depth to the current PEER board.\u201d<\/p>\n<span class=\"et_bloom_bottom_trigger\"><\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PEER has welcomed new Chairperson Paul Caica to the organisation who brings fresh insight and expertise to the group.
