Asbestos lurks in more places than you\u2019d think.<\/p>\n<p>Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Australians have increased their love of DIY and are using the extra time at home to do some home improvements and maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>But what they may not know is that this work could be putting their health or someone else\u2019s health at risk. Asbestos materials are still commonly found in bathrooms, laundries, and kitchens as well as behind tiles and under flooring.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Know the risks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t risk the possible health effects of asbestos exposure. Asbestos-related diseases cause approximately 4,000 deaths a year.<\/p>\n<p>Asbestos becomes dangerous once the fibres are disturbed, become airborne and then inhaled.
